James Morris, Skier

Here is a photo to start off this post.  Joel Andrew continues to excel at skiing, and here he goes with almost all of the other boys for skiing over the weekend.  Almost all the boys, except for James.

James will agree he is still a "baby" on some items.  Those include the fact that he does not need to potty train, the fact that he does not give up "Baby Thumb" - but if you tell him he can't go skiing like his big brother he is sad.  Visibly upset.  Not whining and crying and tantruming, but heartbroken.  So, this weekend Daddy got him all dressed and took him skiing.

The kids did not whine, cry or be sad through any part of it.  Not while shoving the too-small, last year pair of Joel Andrew boots on.  Not while even putting his hat on (which usually brings some crys).  Joel Husband brought him down to test out him on skis, and it became immediately clear that James wanted to really try it.

So, off they went, again and again, Daddy and James, with Nana just behind.  James flying in french-fry down the bunny slopes, never falling.  Not once!  Smiling, laughing, loving it.  Poor Daddy had the workout of a lifetime, carrying him up then running down after the speeding bullet.  At one point James actually skied by Joel Andrew who was coming in from ski school to have a snack.  Joel Andrew left ski school walked over to James and unprompted told him how proud he was of him.  When James was done, he continued to say: "I skied!, I skied!"  And has already told me he can't wait to tell his friends at school tomorrow too.

I am proud of both my boys, and Mommy has got to take lessons quick to keep up with them.
