Today we went to the Grand Tetons National Park in Wyoming. There are a lot of great things to see and do here, and without the crowds. My guess is most people go to Yellowstone... So, we were able to get away with a lovely day of not too much traffic around the park.
We started by traveling up north to the Colter Bay visitor center. We bummed around and took a small scenic hike that overlooks Jackson Lake. From there we started our drive back South, to Jackson Hole, and stopped along the way at Signal Mountain to enjoy the views.
By the time we visited Jenny Lake he was very hungry. It was a bad plan. We had no high chair, and we had a hard time finding a place to eat. We did find a lovely place, but by then he was over hungry, and I was over cranky. So, it did not go as well as planned. It is impossible to feed a 1 year old without any means of holding him down (or not eating all of the sand on the ground at the same time).. . I just kept wishing I had brought our portable high chair. This would have also been helpful when our hotel did not have a high chair at breakfast (who has cribs, but no high chair?).
Finally, over the horror that was lunch and back and ready to explore. We took the boat over Jenny Lake and hiked up to the 200 ft. waterfall. I had him in my awesome hiking backpack from The Trustees' crew. It was quite handy! We fit in with all of the hippies that had their kids in hiking backpacks.
Instead of taking the boat back, which we paid for, we decided to do the hike. I am not sure how many miles, but over 1 hour later I was exhausted and ready to be done. The little guy had the best time ever. We drove through a different area of the park on the way home, and we saw a moose! Joel (big) took 8 million photos... That was a fun sight! Then we had another slightly stressful dinner and now back to bed for an exciting day tomorrow, Yellowstone!

Just catching up on all your posts, as we've been away on vacation without (gasp!) internet). Looks like a great vacation so far, and a couple of fun birthday celebrations. Love the mini jet ski, my mom will adore it! Hard to believe he's one already, isn't it? Enjoy!
