We took a break from the lake to visit the home of my second childhood, the coast of Maine the past few days. First stop, the all important Moody’s Diner in Waldoboro. My closet is once again stocked with “I’m a Moody Person” t-shirts. And, of course, you have to know “I’m a Moody Baby” onesie was also purchased. Lots of grilled cheese (the obligatory meal) was eaten by all. J ate so much of it, it is as if he listened to all my hype and understood that this, in fact, is excellent grilled cheese. When pie came, the guy went nuts. He is a BIG fan of blueberry pie. But, who wouldn’t be of fresh out of the oven blueberry pie? Yeah, sugar is bad, but he needed to try it! (maybe not eat most of it… but still, it is summer).
What a great time we had visiting with Dana. She recently moved to Nobleboro, and purchased a puppy, Noodle. So, needless to say Noodle and J exhausted themselves. After a wonderful lunch at Moody’s we hopped on Route 1 and drove north to Camden. When I went to sleepaway camp in Washington, ME for many years, Camden is most likely the place you would find my parents during visiting weekend. Staying at the Lord Camden Inn, eating at the Waterfront, shopping at the Smiling Cow. As with any visit to any places of your youth, you are saddened to find any changes (Once a Tree is now gone), but thrilled to see things almost the same – Cappy’s, Smiling Cow, all the same. We walked, we enjoyed, but J was miffed to see that the adorable 11-week old puppy trumps adorable 11 month old boy in cuteness! The crowds loved Noodle more!
An evening at Dana, Eben and Noodle’s new-old home was wonderful. They are in the midst of renovating, and with the chance of a housebreaking accident it was tough to just let Joel run, but he still managed just great. He sucked down his bottle for the first time in forever which I can only attribute to the heat of the day, and then of course proceeded to throw dinner- because why would you be hungry for real food after drinking 9 ounces? So, that was a challenge, but I decided that would have happened anywhere – Nobleboro, Sebago, Hampton Falls. He was “asleep” for the evening (the bedtime routine was rough after the crankinees from Mommy and J for the throwing food incident), and with a quick call to Daddy – What do we do? He is crying! – Joel’s response: “You leave him, you can only help him by having a glass of wine right now.” Joel, good response, nice support! It was true, a glass of wine later he was out for the night and Mom was relaxing.
A great day on the mid-Coast of Maine!
