Trains in Europe with a Kiddo

Trains are good. Sometimes.

An adventure in Europe deserves a train ride or two.  We though Joelly would love this so we planned for two different types of train rides.  One overnight train and one day train.  I am typing from the day train now - with beautiful sweeping mountain vistas and cute the castles and churches on hills of marble.  We are going through the Brunner pass and Joel husband is pointing every church and every castle building and every ski resort. He is loving this.  Joel Andrew is not finding this interesting at all.  He just wants to watch his iPad.  This is making me a bit nervous...  We have been letting him have lots of ipad time in order to give him a rest and let him be a kid for a bit in the middle of all of this new fun.  But now - not even enjoying the scenery? Making me nervous.  So now Joel is taking a nap.

The overnight train was something mommy will soon not forget.  We were in 2nd class and had three bunk beds, one on top of the other.  Mommy "slept" in the topmost bunk, and was a mess.  Joel Andrew was in the middle and he made me so super nervous.  The kid never sits still when he sleeps so to place mr. Just recovering from a broken collarbone 5 ft in the air in a moving room for the night just seemed ridiculous.  But we made it.  He was a bit of a mess the next morning--- we stayed up way too late the night before- but he generally loved every moment of that train ride.

Aha ! He is now looking out the window.  We will see how long this will last, especially since we are in a tunnel now... Oh well.
