Today we went to opening day at Castle Hill, on the Crane Estate in Ipswich, Mass. Again, this is a property owned by the place I work for. It is awesome. A huge estate (we called it the castle), on the ocean, with marshes and gorgeous beaches and rolling hills and gardens and you name it. We went to say hi to some co-workers, but mainly to enjoy the gorgeous day. We walked around the house, we had some pizza, and we had a few tantrums... This house is a nice historic house museum, which also can hold parties. Numerous films have been filmed there, including most recently Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, a forgettable flick with the likes of Matthew McConahay and Jennifer Garner...
James was loving it and loving life. He wanted to kick the soccer balls, he was running all around the grass. He was eating up his pizza like a champ. This kid wants to play with the big boys. Joel Andrew was having a great time too - he loves all the attention his hat brings him and is a huge ham, but then reaches a breaking point. The whining that happened today was super annoying. I think he just gets exhausted.
Friends from NH also joined us, and we saw Michelle, Aidan and Ainsely briefly. We picnicked on the Grand Allee, which has recently been restored. And then we walked the rolling hills down to the water view. If you have toddlers, with a lot of energy, this is the place to bring them. You can sit and watch them run and run and play and go crazy for hours. Bring a picnic, chat it up and let them go crazy.
Everyone except for Daddy, fell asleep in the car ride home and Baby James (hopefully) is back down to continue a much needed rest. I plan on joining him. This keeping up with activity on the weekends thing is exhausting! Now, when is there time to do laundry and get lunches prepped for the week?
