Clown Town
The big thing in Andover is Clown Town. My husband grew up here, and each year Clown Town happens and it is huge. I have heard about it from his friends, and from the fact that they have brought their children there the past couple of years... This year we decided to try it out for ourselves.
It is a fundraiser, and boy they must raise lots of funds, because it is $3 per kid, per ride. Can you imagine, if you have three kids and they all want to go in the train ride that lasts 30 seconds? This could cost you $100 in no time, seriously.
There is also lots of food to be eaten, the carnival type, and lots of prizes to be won, also the carnival type. There are the usual rides like the mini-choo choo, a merry-go-round. All sorts of fun. When the kids are bigger there are swings and all sorts of other scary carnie rides. I can see why it was a huge hit with the people who grew up here.
We had a nice time, but decided the crowds were too much and it was time to go. We went to nearby Harrison's for Roast Beef, and I was surprised to learn that Harrison's borders a Trustees of Reservations property. Now, which one...
All in all, it was a good day! We had a great time, as usual with the Kings and we probably will be back to Clown Town again next year, bringing our savings.
